Cane stood up from where he and Salleena had been resting, and walked over to the barred wall separating their cell from the next. He looked at the newly arrived prisoner, eyes straining to make out the figure... who was laying half-sprawled across the floor, back to Cane.

"Verdan? Is that you?" He asked whispered.

Salleena had just arrived at Cane's side as Verdan rolled over and peered through the darkness. He just stared for a long moment, as if uncertain to whether or not he was just hearing voices.

"He's alive?!" Salleena squealed-- too loud for Cane's liking. "Is it really him??"

Cane berated her softly, as to not draw unwanted attention from the guards.

His voice breaking, Verdan pulled himself up, painfully. "Salleena? Cane?" He dragged himself over to the bars where he collapsed. Their arms were quick to reach out for him.

"I'm so happy to see you!" said Salleena, forgetting to lower her voice again.

Verdan sat limply against the barred barrier, the girl's thin arms reaching through and embracing him tightly. She smiled and wept, delicate hands touching him in comforting ways. The love and affection was quite honestly overwhelming, surpassing all the aching he felt at that moment.

It was Cane who brought him back to reality. "What happened, kid? Where have you been??"
